Our Adventure Day

This weekend we decided to have an adventure. Joshua finished summer school and the sun decided to make a (brief) appearance. First stop: picking organic raspberries.

Next stop: Remlinger Farms.

We got to ride a train!

Matthew drove a school bus ...

and a car. Awesome!

We attempted to cool off while watching a stage show. Look at my babies' red cheeks! 84 degrees is too hot for us I guess.

Rollin' on a river

and flying in a pumpkin.

Matthew even got to ride a real live pony. His name was Kale. :)
What a lovely weekend.

Indoor Summer

So this has not been the best summer, weather-wise. We have had to find ways to pass the time indoors. We made play-doh and Matthew designed a birthday cake.

Ta dah!

Is the sun out yet?

Jane has decided that food isn't so bad after all. Some of her favorites are apricots, broccoli, and yams.

Baby food is for babies. Give me the whole thing!

Jane wants to play whatever Matthew is playing at the moment. They often play trains and grocery store. I love watching them form a friendship!

I love this face!

I love this face too!

Fourth of July Fun

The boys shared an ice cream cone after a walk downtown.

Janie got some sandals that fit her chubby little feet. My sweet happy girl!

Patriotic gals.

Daddy's girl!

Matthew had difficulty sleeping last year for about a month after the "fire pops". This year we tried ear plugs.

An evening boat ride.

Aunt Debbie
Crazy driver!

Veronica and the brave boy.

The amazing view from the boat. This is why we live here people. Look at that!

Summer Sillies

Every Friday we get our produce delivered to our door. If you live in the area, I can't recommend Terra Organics enough - they are fabulous! Matthew is thrilled to check outside each week for what he calls "my delivery" and cannot hold himself back from digging in. Yum!

All of us love watching our deer in the yard. The other day the fawn came right up to the glass door to be eye-to-eye with Jane! So sweet.
I love summer, but summer allergies do not love me. I had already used up my cold pack and still had painful sinuses, so I took what I could get - Matt's cold feet. Ahhh relief.

Matthew's Third Birthday

Our last day in Raleigh happened to be Matthew's birthday. The Sant'Agatas joined us on a trip to the Life and Science Museum.
Camden and Jane rolled through together.
Dinosaurs!

A train ride through the park - awesome! (If you are under 4...)

I'm in a space shuttle!

A happy birthday song from Grandma!

A happy birthday powerpoint from Magum!

Enjoying a stolen snack.

At least he served it up nicely. (Notice he has the pink bowl and gave Claire the blue one.)

Coconut ice cream! Delicious!

All dressed up for birthday fun.
Happy birthday my sweet Matthew!

Father's Day 2011

Father's Day was check-out day from the beach house. We took a detour on the way home to visit the town of New Bern. Everything was closed when we got there (Sunday morning in the Bible belt ...) but we enjoyed our time together nonetheless.
Matthew found a fancy fire hydrant.

We had lunch at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The owner came out and turned the trains on for Matthew.

Free pig rides!

Daddy and his two little darlings.

Mmmmm ... Pig in a Pup - A BBQ pork sandwich on a hush puppy bun. (Just writing that made my stomach turn over - ewe!)

Matthew discovered hush puppies.
It is such a joy to watch Joshua be a dad. You are amazing my love and I am so glad that you are the father of my children. Happy Father's Day!
